The Minister of Transport and Communications is heading to the USA and Canada for an official visit

On Monday, Minister of Transport and Communications Marius Skuodis is starting a one-week working visit to the USA and Canada. During meetings with the officials of these countries and international organisations as well as business representatives, the minister will discuss cooperation in transport, opening up the US market to Lithuanian air companies, reorganisation of Lithuanian enterprises, transport innovations, development of satellite internet access, as well as implementation of the US sanctions on Belarusian companies and the progress of the ongoing international investigation of the forced landing of a Ryanair plane in Belarus in May.

In Washington, the Minister will visit the US Department of the Treasury, he will meet with representatives of the Federal Aviation Administration, there are also planned meetings with Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund, representing the Nordic and Baltic countries, Mika Poso, mission chief for Lithuania Borja Gracia and other representatives of the Fund, and Vice President of the World Bank Indermit Gill.

The Minister is also to meet with the European market development managers of Starlink, a division of the space technology company Space X. A company named Starlink Lithuania has already been established in Lithuania after a meeting between the Minister and the representatives of Starlink, the leader in satellite internet, at the end of this February. The minister discuss further development of satellite internet in Lithuania. The US company develops Starlink, a broadband Internet communication system, in Europe.

In the city of Montreal in Canada, the Minister will visit the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), he will meet President of the ICAO Council Salvatore Sciacchitano, the Chair of the Shipping Federation of Canada and the members of its Board of Directors, he will also visit the Port of Montreal and meet its management.
