The United States Embassy in Vilnius is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications for the Fulbright Graduate Student program for the academic year 2015/16.
Fulbright is the most widely recognized and prestigious international exchange program in the world, selecting nominees through an open, merit-based competition. 53 Fulbright alumni have been awarded the Nobel Prize; 80 alumni have received Pulitzer prizes; 29 alumni have served as heads of state or government.
Graduate students are now invited to join the cohort of 82 Lithuanian professors and 89 students, who have already had a chance to pursue teaching, research or studying at American universities since Fulbright program was established in Lithuania in 1992.
The Fulbright Student program provides funding for one year of graduate program tuition at a U.S. university, travel, insurance and a living expenses stipend.
The Fulbright Program is sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State and administered under policy guidelines established by the William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.
The Fulbright Graduate Student Program offers grants to Lithuanians who intend to enter graduate degree (Master's, Doctoral) or non-degree programs at U.S. universities in any field. The Fulbright program in Lithuania aims to reflect the full diversity of the Lithuanian student body, in terms of subjects of study, regions of residence and gender. Applications in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) disciplines are especially encouraged.
Eligible applicants are citizens or legal residents of Lithuania who will obtain an undergraduate degree no later than the summer of 2014. Applicants must be able to present clearly defined study goals and career objectives. A valid TOEFL score will be required of all finalists of the program.
