On 21 November 2016, at the 62nd Session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, held in Istanbul, Rasa Juknevičienė, Member of the Seimas, was elected as a Vice-President of this important parliamentary forum.
In her new capacity, Mrs Juknevičienė will focus on the following priorities: strong transatlantic relations, active engagement with Ukraine and Georgia, which are seeking membership in the Alliance, and better reciprocal understanding in studying threats to southern Europe and the Baltic States.
The post of a Vice-President enables engaging in the activities of the Bureau, which takes key decisions of the Assembly.
Paolo Alli from Italy was elected as President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
In addition, Rasa Juknevičienė was re-elected as General Rapporteur of the Political Committee of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and will be preparing a report on Russia. The report will be presented at the spring session of the Parliamentary Assembly in 2017 to be held in Tbilisi, Georgia.
