TeraGlobus Highlights Progress in European Collaborative Project R-PODID: RELIABLE POWERDOWN FOR INDUSTRIAL DRIVES

Vilnius, 5th of March 2024 - TeraGlobus, a key partner in the European collaborative project R-PODID: RELIABLE POWERDOWN FOR INDUSTRIAL DRIVES, is pleased to announce significant progress as the project continues its first year of realisation. The innovative project had successfully reached its milestone with the completion of its website, social media platforms, and brand identity development. These key elements serve as vital touchpoints for engaging with the project's audience and conveying its mission. Additionally, comprehensive dissemination materials have been meticulously crafted and utilised by project partners during various events and workshops. These materials not only showcase the project's progress but also effectively communicate its objectives, ensuring widespread awareness and participation among stakeholders.

Furthermore, the consortium is diligently assembling the Data Management Plan, a crucial framework that ensures the responsible handling and utilisation of project data. This strategic initiative underscores the commitment to transparency, ethics, and compliance within the project's operations. By proactively addressing data management protocols, the consortium aims to uphold the highest standards of integrity while fostering innovation and collaboration in its endeavours.

With a total budget of €23.7M, including €7.2M from the EU, R-PODID is making strides in advancing fault prediction in electric drives, power modules, and power devices for industrial applications.

R-PODID's primary objective is to develop an automated, cloudless, short-term fault prediction system that seamlessly integrates into power converters. This innovative project addresses crucial industry challenges by focusing on the following objectives:

  1. Methodology for fault-prediction model generation from sparse training sets or system simulation.
  2. Power electronics with integrated support for embedded AI.
  3. 24-hour fault prediction for Gallium Nitride (GaN) and Silicon Carbide (SiC) based power converters.
  4. 24-hour fault prediction and fault mitigation for electric drives.
  5. Sensors for reliability prediction in power modules.

Coordinated by the University of Bologna, R-PODID leverages the expertise of 33 partners to implement innovations into power modules and apply them in four key use cases:

  1. Conveyor belts
  2. Industrial lighting
  3. Automotive traction inverters
  4. Heavy-duty testbed

This collaborative effort represents a significant step forward in enhancing the reliability and efficiency of industrial drives, ultimately leading to improved performance and reduced downtime.
