The balancing market attracts new participants – global leading energy storage provider HyperStrong enters the Baltic and Polish region via partnership with NordBESS

Lithuanian-founded energy technology company NordBESS has become the official partner of HyperStrong - one of the world’s largest Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) solution providers - in the Baltic States and Poland. Together, the two companies are developing a project pipeline totaling 500 MWh. This collaboration will ensure the availability of advanced energy storage solutions in the region and help local businesses capitalize on the new opportunities created by the recently launched common Baltic balancing capacity market.

“Energy storage solutions are becoming not only a tool for grid stability but also a driver of business competitiveness. Today, energy storage technologies enable more efficient energy use and create additional revenue streams through participation in the balancing market. This marks a new stage in the region’s energy transformation,” says NordBESS CEO Rimvydas Matijošaitis.

According to him, NordBESS’s activities in the region extend beyond the supply of international technologies. The company is establishing a local BESS service and spare parts center in Lithuania, which will ensure fast response to customer needs, on-site maintenance, and technical support, helping clients save valuable time.

“Our cooperation with NordBESS allows us to strengthen our operations in the Baltics and Poland, where the demand for energy storage solutions is growing rapidly. We can capitalize on our expertise in delivering tailored solutions that meet regional demands. Local partnerships are essential to respond swiftly to customer needs and provide comprehensive technical support,” says Pingyang Wang, Senior Vice President of HyperStrong International.

HyperStrong ranks among the top three global BESS providers by installed capacity in 2023 and is recognized as China’s number one BESS provider by cumulative installed capacity as of the end of 2024, according to S&P.  With 14 years of dedicated BESS expertise, the company is known for its robust project execution and AI-powered value maximization across the project life cycle. HyperStrong has delivered storage projects in international markets, including Germany, Finland, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Romania, Bulgaria, and has recently expanded its global footprint with new projects in Estonia, Greece, Côte d’Ivoire, and Zimbabwe. Globally, the company has participated in over 300 BESS projects, with a combined energy storage capacity exceeding 40 gigawatt-hours.

The NordBESS CEO R. Matijošaitis emphasizes that advanced energy storage solutions are relevant not only for renewable energy developers and producers but also for industrial, logistics, data center, and other high-energy-consumption sectors. Such companies can utilize energy storage systems to enhance operational efficiency and participate in the market by offering balancing services.

Today, energy storage systems are becoming one of the key instruments in the overall energy balancing market. They can instantly respond to grid fluctuations, provide balancing services, and help companies reduce costs while generating additional revenue - positioning storage at the heart of a resilient and decentralized energy future.
