Visit of Rear Admiral Mark Montgomery Deputy Director of Plans, Policy and Strategy United States European Command

The U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce the visit of Rear Admiral Mark C. Montgomery to Lithuania from August 22-23, 2011. Rear Admiral Mark C. Montgomery is the Deputy Director for Plans, Policy, and Strategy at the United States European Command, based in Stuttgart, Germany. This is his second visit to Lithuania. The purpose of this visit is to introduce him to and have discussions with his Lithuanian counterparts within the Lithuanian military and security establishment. This will be his first stop on a visit to all three Baltic nations. Rear Admiral Montgomery’s visit is one facet of a high level of overall military to military cooperation between the United States and Lithuania. U.S.-Lithuanian cooperation includes exercises, joint training, and support in preparing Lithuanian soldiers to serve as part of NATO forces in Afghanistan. During the visit, topics ranging from energy security, operations in Afghanistan, and Lithuanian support for the full range of NATO operations will be covered.
