The DTRIP4H project (Decentralised Health Digital Twin Ecosystem consisting of Research Infrastructures) is launching a series of stakeholder engagement workshops to explore user needs and expectations for the development of a Decentralised Digital Twin Environment (DDTE).
Funded by the European Union, DTRIP4H seeks to address key challenges in health data harmonisation, equitable access, and robust privacy protection. By leveraging advanced digital twin technologies, the project aims to enable sophisticated simulations and analyses of complex biological processes, supporting more effective research, innovation, and healthcare decision-making.
At the core of the project is the development of a DDTE, integrating cutting-edge technologies such as federated learning, Generative AI, and Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/AR). This environment will empower researchers, innovators, SMEs, and other stakeholders to develop digital twin applications tailored to specific scientific and clinical challenges.
To demonstrate the potential of this ecosystem, the project will develop seven innovative proof-of-concept health-related use cases addressing key societal and medical challenges. These include applications in cancer treatment, drug development, environmental health, precision treatment for schizophrenia, and personalised medicine, combining AI and immersive technologies within a decentralised digital twin framework.
Stakeholder Invitation
To ensure that the future DDTE reflects the needs and expectations of its users, the DTRIP4H consortium is organising a series of online co-creation workshops bringing together stakeholders from across healthcare, research, policy, technology, and society. These workshops will gather insights on user requirements, governance, ethics, and operational considerations that will shape the development of a trustworthy and responsible digital twin ecosystem.
The DTRIP4H consortium particularly welcomes participation from the following stakeholder groups:
Workshop Series
Workshop 1: Exploring User Needs for DDTE:Ethics, Implementation, and the Future of Responsible Simulation
Time: 10:00-11:30 CET | Date: March 26th, 2026 | Location: Online
Topics: Introducing the DTRIP4H project and DDTE; presenting one or several use cases; exploring end-user needs and clinical implementation; and discussing ethical, regulatory, clinical and technical requirements for a trustworthy decentralised digital twin environment.
Workshop 2: Exploring User Needs for DDTE: Data Request and Access Scenarios
Time: 10:00-11:30 CET | Date: April 23rd, 2026 | Location: Online
Topics: Simulating cross-RI access, identifying policy misalignment, and discussing security expectations.
Workshop 3: Exploring User Needs for DDTE: Governance and Accountability Principles for DDTE Use
Time: 10:00-11:30 CET | Date: May 21st, 2026 | Location: Online
Topics: Define acceptable governance principles, clarify accountability expectations, and validate value propositions.
Stakeholders interested in contributing to the development of a responsible and effective digital twin ecosystem are encouraged to participate.
